DIDDY TO PAY T-PAIN ROYALTIES FOR THE USE OF AUTO-TUNE

This whole auto-tune shit is getting way out of hand...
First Kanye and Wayne auto-tuned their records to death (after supposedly asking asking the man-in-the-top-hat himself, Mr. T Pain for permission), now Diddy released a statement that his entire new album will be sung using Auto-Tune. Auto-Tune is an audio processor which uses a phase vocoder to correct pitch in vocal and instrumental performances. It is used to disguise inaccuracies and mistakes, and has allowed many artists to produce more precisely tuned recordings. If you saw T-Pain's performance on SNL the other night, you know he can't sing!

“I gave T- Pain one point on my [upcoming] album for using the Auto-Tune,” Diddy revealed on Sunday night.

“Sign the papers,” Pain added, confirming Puff’s revelation.
“Diddy actually gave me royalties on this album just for using Auto-Tune. He signed the contract and everything. If I can do that with Diddy, somebody else better be signing something. It’s Diddy. He didn’t have to involve me at all..I’m writing and producing on his album, and he gave me extra royalties on top of that for using something I just brought back.”

Auto-Tune is officially banned in 2009! Thanks!

T.O GETS UNLEASHED

T.O was a beast today! Bottled up all season, and his frustration starting to show, Terrell Owens broke out with seven catches for 213 yards helping the Cowboys beat the San Francisco 49ers 35-22 today. "They unleashed me today," Owens said, smiling. Dallas (7-4) has won consecutive games for the first time since starting 3-0. With sputtering Seattle coming to Texas Stadium on Thursday, the Cowboys could distance themselves even more from their recent 2-4 rut and could go steaming into December in prime position for a wild-card playoff berth.

DUBCNN INTERVIEWS EVIDENCE

I've been a fan of Evidence for a minute. Last year's "Weatherman" L.P. was one of the most slept on releases of the year, and although I do like Dilated, I am a much bigger fan of Ev's solo efforts. Last week we saw the release of his "Layover" mixtape with DJ Skee... If you did not download it, do yourself a favor and do so immediately. The "Layover" features production by Alchemist as well as appearances from Phonte, Casual, Bishop Lamont, U-N-I, Defari, Diz Gibran, and more. This mixtape has been in constant rotation at Tradition since it's release.
DUBCNN recently caught up with Evidence for an interview which you can read here. The "Layover" E.P. drops worldwide November 25th.

CLIPPERS TRADE THOMAS AND MOBLEY AND ACQUIRE ZACH RANDOLPH AND MARTY COLLINS

The Los Angeles Clippers acquired forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks today in exchange for forward Tim Thomas and guard Cuttino Mobley. The six-foot-nine Randolph is known as one of the NBA’s most effective young post players, bringing a career 16.4 points per game scoring average and 8.2 rebounds in 467 career games to the Clippers. Randolph is a career 46 percent shooter from the field and averaged 17.6 points, a team-leading 10.3 rebounds in 69 games for the Knicks in 2007-08 while finishing 10th in the NBA with 40 double-doubles. Randolph is averaging 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in the first 11 games of the 2008-09 season. Thank god we traded Tim Thomas, that bum is lazy as hell!

VIDEO: THE ALCHEMIST FT. SNOOP DOGG, PUSHA T & JADAKISS - LOSE YOUR LIFE

One of the coolest cartoon videos ever!

WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE

On Saturday, I went to the opening of Axis' solo show "Welcome to my Nightmare" at SURU on Melrose. I got there a little late, so I missed the installation. They had a naked woman in the window with two giant pythons! I saw the snakes, but I missed the girl. Oh well... As I expected the artwork was sick! I had seen a lot of the work in progress over the last few months visiting Axis' studio, but it was great to see all of his work together. The show will be up for at least another month, so stop by if you get a chance. Axis will have a piece in our "On Deck" artshow opening this Saturday as well!

AMENITY - DEC 6TH

I know many of you went to the Radio Silence book release show in L.A. with the Cro-Mags. That was the most fun that I have had at a hardcore show in a very long time. On December 6th Radio Silence is throwing another book release party, this time in San Diego. The event will feature a performance by a San Diego hardcore favorite, the long defunct Amenity. I might have to make my way down to check out the show... I didn't release it had been that long since I have seen Amenity play. If only they could get Forced Down on the bill too!
You can learn more about the event here.

MODEST MOUSE & CALIFONE - SOUTH OF HEAVEN

SUGE SUES KANYE OVER LOST EARRING?

Times are tough for Death Row Records co-founder Marion "Suge" Knight. The once high flying gangsta-rap mogul recently filed for bankruptcy, and this summer, he had to sit idly by while his company's assets were sold at auction. Now part of his October 30 bankruptcy filing, Knight is blaming Kanye West for the loss of a beloved 15-carat diamond stud earring that was stolen from him three years ago. According to a lawsuit filed by Knight against West and some of his partners on September 12, the label boss blames 'Ye for allowing someone to smuggle a gun past security at the rapper's 2005 pre-VMA party in Miami, the same party where some unknown person shot Knight in the leg. During the scuffle, Knight — who says he attended the party with a "false sense of security" — claims someone shot him in the upper right leg, shattering his bone and requiring surgery, months of physical therapy and continued mental pain and suffering and loss of income. He also says that he lost a $135,000 diamond stud earring, which was retrieved by someone who identified himself as an employee, and who assured Knight the earring would be returned, though it was not. Knight believes the person worked for West or one of the other defendants in the suit. SUGE has a lot of balls, NO HOMO! Hahaha

LIL' WAYNE - DEDICATION III

Here it is... The long awaited Dedication III mixtape from Lil' Wayne and DJ Drama. I haven't even finished downloading this yet!

SUNS VS ROCKETS FIGHT

The NBA has suspended Steve Nash and Matt Barnes of Phoenix and Rafer Alston of Houston for their roles in a fight on wednesday night. Alston and Barnes were suspended for two games without pay and Nash for one. The league also fined Shaquille O'Neal $35,000 and Tracy McGrady $25,000 for their actions during the Rockets' 94-82 win in Phoenix. "It's just overblown," Barnes told the Arizona Republic. "They went above and beyond the call of duty here. They didn't call a foul in my situation. We got in a little pushing match and I get suspended for two games? Rafer gets two games and Rafer threw two punches at Steve. Basically, what they're saying is you might as well throw two punches because you got the same suspension as someone who threw two punches. Steve comes and tries to break it up and gets thrown to the ground and he gets suspended and T-Mac [McGrady] doesn't get anything. Ridiculous."

WALTER SCHREIFELS - SOCIETY SUCKERS

Check out the newest video from Walter Schreifels, guitar player from such bands as Youth of Today and GB and vocalist from Quicksand and Rival Schools, covering Agnostic Front's "Society Suckers."
I love the twist and melody that he adds to this song... You would never know it was AF. Look for Walter's upcoming acoustic release sometime next year as well as a reformed Rival Schools touring a city near you.

Below are a few words from Walter himself:

Agnostic Front vs. Mozart

Victim In Pain by Agnostic Front is one of my favorite records of all time, it's classical music. If you don't know this album I highly recommend that you get familiar with it. Don't be scared away by the misleading artwork, although that's part of the album's "Power" (title of a song on VIP) AF's music fights against fascism and the attitudes of fascists ("Fascist Attitudes")

I think cavemen would have liked Victim In Pain better than anything Mozart ever came up with, or the Beatles. If you had to get psyched up to kill a Wooly Mammoth, would you listen to The Beatles with Sgt. Pepper on french horn or Victim In Pain with Vinny Stigma on lead? I can almost hear the cave men screaming (if they had developed language) STIGMA!!!

It's timeless music, post apocalypse Mad Max people will be rocking to it in a thousand years. Do you think anyone is gonna give a shit about The Shins when you could be raped, lit on fire, dragged by a motorcycle and killed for a liter of gas (which kind of defeats the purpose)? Shit, Apes from Planet Of The Apes would love AF, though the Chimps and Orangutans maybe not as much.

Anyhoo, it's not a music competition, I like The Shins and there is a place for them too but I think that Victim In Pain is more important and unique in the evolution of music, art, mankind, that it goes beyond indie rock and steps into Smithsonian Institute territory.

For that reason I covered AF's Society Suckers from Victim In Pain. My version doesn't approach the aggressive power of the original but I had fun interpreting it, an homage. I think of it as classic folk song like "This Land Is Your Land", I wish Woody Guthrie would do a version in the time/space continuum

...AND ANOTHER ONE!

Another slow jam from Kanye West has hit the web. This one is called "Streetlights"... You know the formula by now. No rapping, singing/talking in the verses, and a very minimal drumbeat. This track isn't bad, but I really haven't heard any songs from Ye's new album that really did anything for me.

LIL' E. NEUMAN

DAMIEN HIRST - HALLUCINATORY HEAD

Damien Hirst made a giant splash in the art world when he released his diamond encrusted skull last year. Damien Hirst's diamond skull (For the Love of God) was reportedly sold for $100 million to an unnamed investment group.
Damian Hirst just released a new series of 50 skull sculptures - the Hallucinatory Heads. Painted with the Spin painting technique, that Hirst is known for and has also heavily used in his last Levi’s collaboration collection, the sculptures are available through Other Criteria. Each of the 50 heads is unique and goes for 50′000 Pounds.

KANYE WEST FT. LIL' WAYNE- TELL EVERYBODY THAT YOU KNOW

Another new leak from Kanye's upcoming "808's and Heartbreak" just hit the net. This time he linked up with Lil' Wayne to bring us another auto tuned slow jam called "Tell Everybody That You Know."
Overall this is one of the best tracks that I have heard from Kanye's album. I'm not really feeling his new direction, but this song isn't bad. Decide for yourself.

We also have another track from Kanye West featuring Young Jeezy called "Amazing" that features a dope verse from Jeezy.

"I created a thing I call Heartbreak. It's like a mixed drink of auto tune, distortion with a little bit of delay on it, and a whole bunch of life that I put onto records. That's what I call my heartbreak, and that's what every record basically has. I'm delivering what I feel is art and that's what I want to deliver at this point from now on."

I LOVE THE DISNEY CHANNEL

Adrienne Bailon, the eldest member of the teen pop group The Cheetah Girls is a victim of a not-your-average extortion plot. The 25 year old's laptop was stolen in late October while the singer was waiting for a flight at JFK International Airport in New York. When she discovered the computer was MIA, she filed a report with the Port Authority. Later that day, her record label received an anonymous phone call from a man saying he’d return her laptop if he got $1,000. A meeting was set up at JFK with the anonymous man, where he was given the money and in exchange returned Bailon’s missing laptop, but the nude pics of the singer were missing from the computer. Bailon had reportedly taken the racy pics as an anniversary present for her BF, Robert Kardashian. ENJOY!
