The Golden State Warriors have found their replacement for All-Star point guard Baron Davis and they didn't have to look far. The Warriors signed Monta Ellis, their 22-year-old restricted free agent, to a six-year, $67 million contract. Ellis is receiving one of the largest raises in NBA history. As the 40th player selected in the 2005 draft, Ellis was paid just $770,610 last season. He will earn $11 million in 2008-2009. Monta is one of the most exciting players in the NBA, if you haven't heard about him, give it time because he is the REAL DEAL!

WNBA BRAWL, FINALLY!

Lisa Leslie and Candace Parker are the only players to have dunked in a WNBA game. On Tuesday night, they were involved in a skirmish. Parker was one of three players ejected, along with Detroit assistant coach Rick Mahorn, after the scuffle with 4.6 seconds left in the Los Angeles Sparks' 84-81 victory over the Shock. It started moments after Parker and Detroit's Cheryl Ford had to be separated after Ford fouled Parker. On the next possession, Parker got tangled up with Detroit's Plenette Pierson and fell to the ground. As Parker was getting up, Pierson hovered over the Sparks' rookie, who pulled her to the ground. Parker then was tackled by the Shock's Deanna Nolan. Players and coaches from both teams joined in, and Mahorn — who said he simply was trying to separate players — pushed Leslie at one point and knocked her to the court. Los Angeles' DeLisha Milton-Jones then pushed and punched Mahorn in the back. SEE FOR YOURSELF!

MURS AND 9TH WONDER - SWEET LORD

While you are waiting for Murs for President to release on September 30th, download the new 10 song album from Murs and 9th Wonder called "Sweet Lord".

ONE DAY AS A LION

One Day As A Lion is a new project featuring former Rage Against The Machine and Inside Out frontman Zach de la Rocha and former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore. A few songs have been posted on their website and their Myspace page. Fans of RATM will not be disappointed... So far it sounds like a stripped down version of Rage. An EP is available now on Epitaph/Anti.

“One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept.”

“A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.”

“The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.”

HIP CHECK TO THE DOME! LOL

This is what happens when you enter a dunk contest with no boosties and forget to eat your Wheaties!

NBA HAWKS STAR LEAVES FOR GREECE..

Josh Childress is leaving the Atlanta Hawks for Greek club Olympiakos, reversing the course of the many international stars who have signed with the NBA. Heading overseas allows Childress to make more money than he could have as a restricted free agent in the United States. The Hawks had the right to match an offer from another NBA team, but not from an international club. The three-year deal was worth about $20 million after taxes. The money is guaranteed, and Childress can opt out of the contract after each year. The deal is the most lucrative current contract in European basketball and the biggest in Euroleague history, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which first reported the signing. The newspaper reported Monday the Hawks had a deal on the table worth nearly $36 million, with a first-year salary in excess of the midlevel exception of $5.6 million. The 6-foot-8, 210-pound guard/forward averaged 11.8 points and 4.9 rebounds as the Hawks' top reserve last season. He averaged 11.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in four years with Atlanta about being drafted sixth overall in 2004 out of Stanford.

CAMBY READY TO GIVE IT TO THE NUGGETS

Six days later, and Marcus Camby still can't believe what went down. My Los Angeles Clippers acquired Camby, the NBA's leading shot-blocker the past three seasons, from the Denver Nuggets last Tuesday for the option to exchange second-round picks with the Clippers in 2010. "When I heard of the trade, I said, 'Who did Denver get in return?'" Camby said today at an introductory news conference. The answer was nobody, although the Nuggets are relieved of Camby's $10 million salary-cap figure. "Yes," Camby answered quickly when asked if the Nuggets gave him away. "I understand this is a business," he said. "No one said a word [about the trade], I found out from my agent." "I thought the way [the Nuggets] went about it was classless," he said. "I thought it could have gone down a whole lot better. I'll get over it once training camp begins when I'm around the guys. You never forget. I'm definitely looking forward to those couple games we play against Denver. "Denver was a place my family and I really loved. It was kind of shocking. I felt I did everything possible for that team." And, he added, in the community as well.

CLIPPERS GET CAMBY FROM NUGGETS

Not sure this deal is what is gonna my Clippers a contender but tonight the Clippers swung a trade to import Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby as our Brand replacement for the small cost of giving Denver the option to swap second-round picks in 2010, capitalizing on the Nuggets' need to shed salary to create their own financial flexibility. Using the salary-cap space for re-signing Brand before his free-agent departure to the Philadelphia 76ers, my clippers were able to absorb Camby's contract ($10 million for each of the next two seasons).

" CRANK DAT ICE-T "

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about the whole Soulja Boy, Ice-T fiasco. Well, here is the cats from Broken Equipment (the same guys behind the infamous Dipset videos, which you should check if you haven't) take on the situation. Pure comedy! The vintage Ice-T footage is the best part. Be sure to watch the whole thing!

FERRARI 430 SCUDERIA

The new Ferrari 430 Scuderia is a 5.7 liter V-12 beast! More horsepower (for a grand total of 510) than does the F430, and it is 221 pounds lighter. Those differences alone would make the Scuderia a faster, more satisfying drive, but the magic is in the details. It goes 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, for a top speed of about 200 mph. The price range is only $220,00 to $299,00, I'm sure I will see one in no time around Westlake Village!

GORDON HURT, WILL MISS REMAINDER OF NBA SUMMER LEAGUE

The Los Angeles Clippers confirmed today that lottery pick Eric Gordon will miss the remainder of the NBA Summer League on with a strained left hamstring. The injury is not believed to be serious. Drafted No. 7 overall last month out of Indiana, Gordon has missed 19-of-28 shots from the field in two games but has relied on his strength, body control and confidence to get to the free-throw line 21 times (making 16) in just under 60 minutes of court time, enabling him to average 19 points along with 6.5 rebounds. Clippers summer league coach Kim Hughes has been primarily playing Gordon as a shooting guard, a position in which he is likely to be deployed most as a rookie alongside Baron Davis.

UNDRCRWN "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE" TEE!

We just received the extremely limited "There Can Only Be one" tee from our boys at Undrcrwn. This tee is a parody of the NBA ad that they were playing during all of the playoff tees. Tradition is one of only a few stores that received a shipment of this tee. Don't sleep!

BRAND TO SIXERS..

I can't believe that I am writing this bad news, just as my Clippers 2008-2009 season looked promising Elton Brand has agreed to a five year $82 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Brand did what 99.9 percent of all players would do: Choose more money and a better chance to win. I hope Baron Davis signs despite Elton leaving the team!

BEASLEY TAKES ROUND 1

Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley got their first tastes of the NBA in the Heat's and Bulls' summer league opener today. Beasley scored 28 points in 23 minutes, lifting Miami past Chicago 94-70 .Beasley was 9-for-21 from the field, with nine rebounds and 19 points in the second half. Meanwhile, Rose finished with 10 points on 3-for-8 shooting, with four assists and five turnovers. Bulls made a huge mistake by not drafting Beasley #1, you'll see!

Here's some footage of Jay-Z performing a very off key version of “Wonderwall” by Oasis at this years Glastonbury festival in the UK. Jay performed this song on the band's home turf, at a festival that has said in the past would not feature Hip Hop performances, as a nod to Oasis dissing hip hop a few years back.

LOST X TRADITION RECAP

The Lost x Tradition artshow last Saturday turned out great. Eyeone did an amazing job with the artwork as did Jason Youth and Kara Marks. I want to thank everyone that showed up for their support, and the artists and friends for all of the hardwork.
I first met Eyeone in the early nineties. He had an all ages punk club/cultural center called The Macondo that was very important to the L.A. hardcore scene. It's funny how life works... 15 years ago I was doing shows at his venue, and now he is doing an (art)show at mine.
If you haven't yet seen the show be sure to stop by soon, Lost x Tradition runs until the 28th of July. Some pieces are still available for purchase as well, so stop by or call the shop if you are interested. Check the images below. You can also view more photos from the opening on Eyeone's blog. I always want to give a shout out to my friends at Steaz for providing some drinks for the event!
