KAWS 4' COMPANION

If you've got some money to burn ($4200 to be exact), Kaws is releasing the black version of his 4 foot Companion online today at Kawsone.com. This is by far my favorite colorway of the Companion, and it would definitely look dope at my house or in the shop!

CLIPSE X KAWS X COMPLEX

The Clipse once again link up with Kaws for the cover of the October/November issue of Complex... This may be one of my favorite Complex covers of all time. If you're too cheap to by the magazine you can read the interview here.

It seems like Till The Casket Drops is very disconnected from the industry as a whole. Like, "Fuck that, this is what we're on."
Malice: This album is like redemption for me. We’ve been through so much with the label, with so much in our lives. Around Hell Hath No Fury, it was just rough times. You could probably hear it in the music. We had a lot of dead weight around us that got cleared out. This time around, everything is freer; we’re in a happier place. You can really hear the change in the music. Listen to “I’m Good.” You can feel it that we’re better. Definitely. Hell Hath No Fury is about when it was more raw. This album is more along the lines of Lord Willin’. And you know Hell Hath No Fury is my favorite album.
Why is it your favorite album?
Pusha: It’s everything I want to hear in rap. My taste isn’t the most commercial of tastes. When I put on an album, I find those records I like. If I’m listening to Ross, I’m listening to “Mafia Music.” If I’m listening to Jeezy, I’m listening to track 17. That’s what I want to hear

KAWS "THE LONG WAY HOME"

I didn't get a chance to go the Kaws' extremely hyped up and anticipated solo show "The Long Way Home" at Honor Fraser on Saturday. I opted to check out Internal Affairs last show at Chain Reaction instead.
Supertouch was on hand at the Kaws show, and you can check out a full photo recap here.
The LA Times recently ran an article about Kaws entitled "Tag, this artist is definitely it." You can read that here as well.

KAWS AT HONOR FRASER

Kaws' first ever sole show in Los Angeles is kicking off this Saturday at Honor Fraser.
The Brooklyn-based artist will be presenting new painting and sculptural work in his first solo show in Los Angeles. KAWS’ technique acts as a sieve of modern culture, filtering and re-contextualizing the images and information that he comes in contact with daily. His process is all encompassing, embracing popular culture and the visual landscape of the familiar. The work can be thought of as an overarching brand; however it is also immediate and organic. This energetic immediacy can be felt in the selection of works that he is presenting.
New large paintings included in the exhibition feature his usual cross-section of familiar cultural icons painted with precise execution. The resulting pieces feature the trademark graphic quality inherent in his work. A large life-size Chum acts as a sentry in the space, watching over the works while also playing with scale and proportion.
I hate these early openings, because seem to miss out on them. Looks like I will be hitting the exhibit later on in the week. Stay tuned for photos!
