2010 will see Madlib venturing into uncharted territory by releasing an album per month as part of Madlib’s Medicine Show Series. To kick off this incredible feat, Stones Throw records is hosting a release part for Medicine Show No. 1: Before the Verdict by having Hit+Run create limited edition album covers live on the spot by screenprinting each one so you can have a custom Madlib record. And in true spirit of the Medicine Show, it will be hosted at Los Angeles's Good Hurt Bar w/ Special Surprise Guests!!
Wed Jan 20th @ The Good Hurt 12249 Venice Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90066-3813 21+. $5
Madlib is launching the Madlib Medicine Show, a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series. The Madlib Medicine Show will be a combination of Madlib's new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat tapes, and jazz, as well as mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music from the Beat Konducta's 4-ton* stack of vinyl. Madlib Medicine Show No. 1 is Before The Verdict featuring Guilty Simpson, a 17-track album mixing remixes and new material, something of a prelude to Madlib & Guilty Simpson's forthcoming OJ Simpson album. Check out the first leak from that project, a track called "Kill 'Em."
Strong Arm Steady link up with Bad Lucc for another Madlib produced track called "Jordache Look." SAS's Madlib produced album, In Search of Stoney Jackson, is officially available on January 26, but can be purchased via download now.
Here's a leak called 2 Pistols from the Madlib produced Strong Arm Steady album Stoney Jackson. The album is available now from the Stones Throw website, and features guest appearances from Talib Kweli, Guilty Simpson, Little Brother’s Phonte, Planet Asia, Fashawn and a host of underground Los Angeles’s emerging rap talent.
Here's the first official single from the SAS Gang's upcoming Madlib produced album, Stoney Jackson, called "Get Started" featuring Talib Kweli. This track isn't what you would expect from Strong Arm, but they came off tight. As usual, Talib sounds great over Madlib beats.
Here's a new Madlib produced track from The SAS Gang ft. The Jacka called Loose Girl. Strong Arm Steady and Madlib make a great team... I look forward to their collaborative album, Stoney Jackson, on Stones Throw.
STRONG ARM STEADY & MADLIB FT. DEFARI - MONEY RIGHT
Strong Arm Steady's upcoming album, Arms and Hammers, has been put on hold for a few months... In the meantime, SAS are set to release a project with Madlib called Stoney Jackson through Stones Throw Records. This is the first official leak from that project called "Money Right" featuring Defari. As a bonus, I have included footage of Strong Arm Steady performing at Tradition for The Takeover event with Soul Assassins.
